Dethatching and overseeding
Thatch is layers of dead grass, roots and debris matted
between the soil and the growing grass.
Thatch can keep water, air and nutrients from reaching
the soil. If untreated, it can become unsightly and create
an environment for pest and diseases.
Dethatching is the process of mechanically
removing the thatch. It should be done
in early fall or mid spring.
Following dethatching, overseeding will
be needed to fill in bare spots and to
help ensure a thick, healthy lawn.
